‘Future of Ukraine’ winners visited Boeing factories with support from Progresstech Ukraine

This September, Progresstech Ukraine supported a trip for the winners of the Ukrainian engineering student festival ‘Future of Ukraine’ to visit the Boeing Company, a key partner and customer for the Ukrainian company.

The trip to the USA was the prize for 10 winners of the 'Future of Ukraine' festival, which is held annually for students of Ukrainian technical universities and colleges.

The trip included tours of Boeing factories in Renton and Everett (Washington), as well as facilities in Seattle related to aviation history and modern aircraft engineering.

The visitors learned more about different technologies for assembling all aircraft types produced by Boeing, assembly facility infrastructure, and suppliers’ pre-fabricated structures, units, and components in Renton and Everett.

Furthermore, the host company provided the future engineers with access to all technological areas in the factories. It was quite a challenge to arrange a visit to the largest industrial building of Boeing’s Everett Factory, where 747, 767, 777, and 787 long-haul airplanes undergo final assembly. Therefore, factory managers suggested using golf carts for an assembly tour, making the Ukrainian students feel like special guests, on par with Boeing’s strategic partners and potential customers.

‘Future of Ukraine’, a Ukrainian festival for engineering talent, has been held annually since 2018. Its purpose is to facilitate development of engineering education, promote engineering professions, and support young talent. Any student from a technical college or university who is capable of solving creative tasks may participate in the festival.

Students from the physical science and engineering departments of 27 Ukrainian universities and colleges took part in ‘Future of Ukraine’ in 2019. Ten festival winners were selected in March-May, based on the results of individual and team tasks during 3 competition rounds.
